Liberty Reality Check

A perceived grandeur
versus a delusion of grandeur—
what is worst,
either way you’re a target.

The haters and traitors
are out to get you,
the first are external,
the latter internal.

It came to me in a dream—
then what should I do now,
is it too late for me
like it was for them?

Let’s talk about what Republicans get wrong about guns….

“Our founding fathers, having just lived through a revolution, tried really hard to create a system of government that could avoid a revolution in the future. The Constitution of the United States of America is the result. A system that has built in a very straightforward way of allowing for everything from small tweaks (2 term limit for President) to massive social change (end slavery, give women equal rights—yes, I know the ERA didn’t pass, that’s part of my point) and the potential for a complete reboot (without the need for violence) in the form of calling for a constitutional convention.
The state in which I live has had 5 constitutions (and prior to the US, 4 versions of the Frame of Government originally written by William Penn) the most recent was 1968, a few months before I was born.
When I hear people say ‘we need a revolution’ I will often ask ‘why not address your concerns via a constitutional amendment or a new constitution?’ The reply is usually quite enlightening as to the motivations and thinking of those calling for revolution. Some people clearly relish the idea of sowing chaos and destruction, and those are the people who scare me the most.” [….]
You’re right that any armed revolution started right now would be disastrous. And, I fear, would mostly lead to fascism as the government was required to crack down on all the various dissidents.
Though I think you’re overestimating the potential ‘breakup’ of America. I don’t think it would happen like that. The division of America today isn’t like that of Yugoslavia. You don’t have black nationalists living in one state, Mexican nationalists living in another, Protestant nationalists living in one and Catholic nationalists living in another. Sure, you have racial and ethnic and religious diversity. But the reality is, that’s spread out everywhere, and our ultimate dividing lines aren’t region-based or even culture-based anymore, they’re political. ‘Left-wing’ and ‘right-wing’ are far more important classifiers to Americans than ‘Wisconsinite’ or ‘Californian’.
Cities all across America are mostly liberal or left-wing. Rural America is mostly right-wing. The divide is geographic, but it isn’t state vs. state, it’s rural-vs-urban. And neither can really survive without the other.
This means that, if it comes down to ‘A revolution,’ today, it will probably be left-wing vs. Right-wing, not California vs. Texas. And one side will have to win and will re-consolidate America. Whether that’s rural America with its guns and bread, or urban America with its wealth, technology, and factories.
Either way, I think it will lead to tyranny on a massive scale. Government surveillance, oaths of loyalty, secret police, whatever. That’s not to say left-wing and right-wing are the same. Just that no matter what, if there’s a civil war in the US in our current political climate, the government that comes out of it will have to be far more repressive than ours today.
So I’m not seeing a ‘broken up’ America, is my point. I’m seeing a united one that is fascist or totalitarian. Still not a good outcome.” Excerpts from comments in Let’s talk about revolution.…

“The world has enough for everyone’s need, but not enough for everyone’s greed.” By: Mahatma Gandhi

“Ignorance breeds fear. We fear those things we don’t understand. If we don’t put a lid on that fear and keep that fear in check, that fear in turn will breed hatred because we hate those things that frighten us. “If we don’t keep that hatred in check, that hatred in turn will breed destruction.” By: Daryl Davis

“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.” By: John F. Kennedy

“Though liberty is established by law, we must be vigilant, for liberty to enslave us is always present under that same liberty. Our Constitution speaks of the ‘general welfare of the people’. Under that phrase all sorts of excesses can be employed by [authoritarian] tyrants—to make us bondsmen.” By: Marcus Tullius Cicero

Final Thoughts: The First Amendment is the chief corner-stone to the Constitution, which upholds our democracy. Don’t be deceived into believing, you don’t need the First Amendment. If you willingly surrender your rights, what makes you think, the government can be trusted—to not trick you—into giving up your Second Amendment, also. Even if you resist, it will be too late, because you’ve already forfeited your First Amendment—Freedom of Speech and Assembly protections. The forfeiture of our First Amendment, whether by coercion, deceit or choice is the greatest threat to our democracy! “When you take care of your first priority, everything else will be okay” or “When you do first things—first, everything else will fall in place. However, if you do second things—first, everything else will fall apart”. Our Founders were cognizant of how subtle, government tyranny can be. We owe them a debt of gratitude, for amending the Constitution with the Bill of Rights!
In conclusion, the Second Amendment only serves as a guarantee that our First Amendment protections are defended. But don’t be deceived, when the Second Amendment was enacted, it was to serve as a deterrent against government tyranny. Back in December 1791, it was probably feasible for a militia of colonists with muskets to subvert the standing army. However in our current state, a militia of armed citizens would never be able to overthrow the government, because the armed forces possess weapons of mass destruction and control the military logistics network. So basically, if our First Amendment falls, our Second Amendment advocates won’t be able to defend themselves and as a consequence whomever orchestrates a military coup will eventually rule over the survivors.

Sometimes you let me,
Spin,
Swing,
And Soar.

Other times,
You grasp me,
In your Fist,
So that I can’t breath!

Who am I kidding?
You never let me,
Have any Freedom,
Anymore!

Maybe when you were
A young Liberal Lover?
Now all you want to do,
Is be the Boss of me!

“We all see freedom differently. Your interpretation is smothering me! But this is what I get, for letting you have the upper hand; I should’ve known better!” By: B. Bondsman

Being good is hard if you live under an authoritarian regime… Dictatorships elevate the nation and the leader as ultimate ends, while mere individuals have no inherent worth outside of their service to the state… Damir Marusic, an Atlantic Council senior fellow, recently wrote, ‘Putin is a wholly authentic Russian phenomenon, and the imperialist policy he’s pursuing in Ukraine is too.’ This is right, but only up to a point. We simply don’t know what individual Russians would choose, want—or become—if they had been socialized in a free, open democracy, rather than a dictatorship where fear is the air one breathes. Like everyone else, they are products of their environment. Authoritarianism corrupts society. Because punishment and reward are made into arbitrary instruments of the state, citizens have little incentive to pool resources, cooperate, or trust others. Survival is paramount, and survival requires putting one’s own interests above everything else, including traditional morality. In such a context, as the historian Timothy Snyder puts it, ‘life is nasty, brutish, and short; the pleasure of life is that it can be made nastier, more brutish, and shorter for others.’ This is the zero-sum mindset that transforms cruelty into virtue.
In short, authoritarianism twists the soul and distorts natural moral intuitions. In so doing, it renders its citizens—or, more precisely, its subjects—less morally culpable. To be fully morally culpable is to be free to choose between right and wrong. But that choice becomes much more difficult under conditions of dictatorship. Not everyone can be courageous and sacrifice life and livelihood to do the right thing.” Excerpt from Why the Russian People Go Along With Putin’s War

“Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán cut right to the chase. He said that Hungary had been ‘completely healed’ of anything smacking of liberalism, and he was crystal clear about how to do it: Control the media….
Again, the mainstream news media has been reluctant to warn the American public in any consistent way about the escalating fascist threat to democracy, which is now global in nature. If ‘blow-back’ is the term used in foreign policy and intelligence to describe ‘the unintended consequences of the U.S. government’s international activities that have been kept secret from the American people,’ the growth and spread of right-wing terrorism in the Age of Trump is the exact opposite. These events are obvious, public and easily predicted, indeed almost inevitable. They are happening right now, in real time.
Because of a desperate desire for ‘normalcy’ and no small amount of self-delusion, America’s mainstream news media and much of the political class has deliberately downplayed the existential danger to American society and democracy represented by Donald Trump, the Republican-fascist movement and the larger white right. In fact, the public is to blame as well, for having chosen willful ignorance and denial, and defaulting to the helpless belief or hope that someone, somewhere—but definitely not them—will solve America’s problems.”

Don’t be pretending you’re “holier than thou”,
By throwing that #conservative hashtag around.
You’re not worthy of that lofty title—
Just call yourself nationalist christians,
Protectionist of your white supremacist status quo.

The “golden rule” doesn’t mean:
Do unto others, what you don’t want done to you.
Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness
Is an unalienable right,
Not just for “patriots and values voters”, but for all.

I have issues, so do you;
Stop acting like you’re the only adult in the house.
If you keep “putting up your dukes” how can we agree?
Here’s a thought—let’s compromise,
On one line item at a time—
Like for starters—what’s the definition of “civil rights”.

You can’t “fight fire with fire”
Or you’ll burn the whole institution down.
What we need is a “cease fire”
And for both sides to bring a “little good faith” to the table.
But If you keep “digging in your heels”,
You’ll end up burying us all!

It is only in recent years, as I have seen that pride turn into self-righteousness, and that self-righteousness into self-pity and aggression, that I have realized just how wrong it was not to be completely open about the failings I witnessed. Confronting lies sometimes means confronting difficult truths about one’s self and one’s own country. It is much easier to forgive yourself and condemn another, than the other way round; but this is something that everyone must do. Finally, do not ever imagine that your world cannot collapse, as ours did. This may seem the most obvious lesson to be passed down, but only because it is the most important. One moment I was enjoying an idyllic adolescence in my home city of Lodz, and the next we were on the run. Perhaps it is because I was only a child that I did not notice the storm clouds that were gathering, but I believe that many who were older and wiser than me at that time also shared my childlike state. Excerpts from I Survived the Warsaw Ghetto

“These are people who have chosen hate and ideology as a drug of choice to numb the pain of underlying issues and grievances, and so we treat this the same way we treat addiction,” said Myrieme Churchill, the executive director of Parents for Peace. Excerpt from: Desperate families are seeking groups that deprogram extremists

“We (the founding fathers of our nation) hold these truths to be self-evident (these truths are universal and non-debatable), that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights (these rights are equal for everyone, because they have value in our Creator’s Eyes), that among these are Life (you have the right to live), Liberty (you have the right to freedom) and the pursuit of Happiness (you have the right to choose for yourself).
Even though we don’t all agree with each other about the Bible. The Declaration of Independence is broader than that and acknowledges that there is an expected gratitude and accountability to God. However, America needs to be warned: Since the right to attain life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is tied-in to our Creator, we can’t remove God from the equation. Otherwise, we won’t have a basis for our right to expect life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in our children’s future!”

Who told the patriots
they couldn’t have freedom for all—
with democracy?
Was it the communists?
I doubt it was the democrats.

Who told the christians
they couldn’t worship as they please—
with democracy?
Was it the nationalists?
I doubt it was the atheists.

Who told the conservatives
they couldn’t win fair elections—
with democracy?
Was it the white supremacists?
I doubt it was the minorities.

The republicans have been free
for about two hundred and fifty years.
How is it, that after all that winning—
they’re sore-losers and victims, now?
Who told them their liberty was in jeopardy?

And why do they allow a sissy,
to keep gas-lighting the GOP?

Commentary: Sooner or later everybody ends up fighting the same battles. What’s really going on in the minds of the patriots, christian nationalist and republicans is that they’re hoping that if they keep the ultra MAGA movement going, they’ll eventually be able to eradicate the socialist democrats, black lives matter marxist, the minorities, immigrants, refugees and deviants who keep gaming government social programs, because the fear in their hearts has triggered hate mongering for whomever Trump frames as unpatriotic. How will they do that? Extradition, segregation, re-education, there are too many citizens in prison, already, it’s impossible! Or are they hoping, for America to become a fascist nation by inciting the Alt-right mob to start a campaign of terror? But there’s a drawback, to this diabolical plan, because when martial law kicks in the door, you can kiss all your constitutional protections goodbye. I repeat, if you or the police state mess up, there’s no civil rights defense!
For a government, to facilitate the detainment of undesirable groups, it has to suspend the constitutional protections of the infected community. But here’s the danger with this scenario, can you trust them to lift martial law, after they’ve completed the round-up, or will they use the pretense, that it’s not safe, yet? History tells us that after the citizens surrender their civil rights, chances are they ain’t getting them back.

Saving Democracy

What can an old man do?
He has already lived his life.
He cannot take another path.
He cannot make a new plan.
He can only hope,
His children will prevail—
While he watches at the gate,
For the enemy to arrive.

“But, I will not wait
For death to come to me.
I will make it my last campaign.
I will go up to meet it on capitol hill.
I will ring loud—the liberty bell—
Until this body is spent,
And carried down to the valley—
Where my generations remain free!”

Opinion: Why is it, that the mind of a Patriot can’t seem to fathom, that the only reason Biden ran for president was to rescue them from the clutches of a “cult of personality” and his wannabe autocratic party? He didn’t need to come out of retirement, he had already fulfilled his duty to his country. But he looked around and saw that he was the last man standing—who could possibly take out fascism, before it got a foothold on America. Joe isn’t seeking power and glory or narcissistic supply like Trump. He’s just trying to save democracy for his grandchildren.

Thou Shalt Not Procrastinate

The goal of procrastination,
Is to put off until tomorrow,
What you can do today.

The odds say: tomorrow will come anyway,
And then you’re faced with the same dilemma,
To do your duty or delay.

Procrastination wishes there was no tomorrow,
That way you wouldn’t have to do,
Anything at all.

But you better stop living in denial,
Before your superior brain discovers,
How to end it all.

“The problem is our brains are programmed to procrastinate. In general, we all tend to struggle with tasks that promise future upside in return for efforts we take now. That’s because it’s easier for our brains to process concrete rather than abstract things, and the immediate hassle is very tangible compared with those unknowable, uncertain future benefits. So the short-term effort easily dominates the long-term upside in our minds—an example of something that behavioral scientists call present bias.” Excerpt from How to Beat Procrastination

“And now, as I have told you before, as you have had so many witnesses, therefore I ask you not to postpone the day of your repentance to the end; because after this day of life, which is given to us to prepare for eternity, behold, if we don’t improve our time while we’re in this life, then comes the night of darkness in which no work can be done.
You can’t say, when you are led to that terrible crisis, that I’ll repent, that I’ll return to my God. No, you can’t say this; for that same spirit that your body possesses the moment you leave this life, that same spirit will have power to possess your body in that eternal world.” Book of Mormon, Alma 34:33-34

If it was up to me,
there would already be
a world war three.

Nobody has the right
to take Liberty
away from anybody.

I am all about “peace in the middle east”,
but there’s only one state
that can be a theocracy,
and from what I hear
there’s only one
which God has ordained.

Now for the rest of us—
the only approved government
is democracy,
and we will not negotiate
with autocracy.

Commentary: If you let the devil have the upper hand, we will all become bondsman, and democracy will fail, so we have no choice, but to make sure freedom prevails. Don’t believe the devil’s lies, that you can have it both ways. You can’t support democracy and sell your capitalist soul to autocracy. It’s a trick to weaken your conviction; to destabilize your firm foundation; to make you over confident, that you won’t be affected by the slippery slope that leads to autocracy. If you support autocracy, you are undermining democracy—why is that so hard to understand?
The reason communists, socialists, fascists and marxists embrace each other is because they don’t feel threaten by the other, so they give each other space, in order to maintain their deception of “honor among thieves”.
The only way to save humanity is for truth and democracy to win over deception and autocracy. An “injustice anywhere is an injustice everywhere”, and its coming to a theater near you. Just because I’m not adverse to the inevitable final confrontation between “good versus evil”, it doesn’t mean I won’t acknowledge that the world might burn if WW3 escalates into a nuclear showdown. But that’s the choice freemen must make, because that’s what I’ve enlisted for.

The Western World Is In Denial. I understand why democratic countries are reluctant to fight, but I worry they don’t understand what will happen next.

Jesus said, “Watch out for doomsday deceivers. Many leaders are going to show up with forged identities, claiming, ‘I am Christ, the Messiah.’ They will deceive a lot of people. When reports come in of wars and rumored wars, keep your head and don’t panic. This is routine history; this is no sign of the end. Nation will fight nation and ruler fight ruler, over and over. Famines and earthquakes will occur in various places. This is nothing compared to what is coming. They are going to throw you to the wolves and kill you, everyone hating you because you carry my name. And then, going from bad to worse, it will be dog-eat-dog, everyone at each other’s throat, everyone hating each other. In the confusion, lying preachers will come forward and deceive a lot of people. For many others, the overwhelming spread of evil will do them in—nothing left of their love but a mound of ashes. Staying with it—that’s what God requires. Stay with it to the end. You won’t be sorry, and you’ll be saved. All during this time, the good news—the Message of the kingdom—will be preached all over the world, a witness staked out in every country. And then the end will come.” The Message, Matthew 24:4-14

My Intercession

“Our Father in Heaven,
Please bless Your people today,
And don’t allow the enemy,

In Jesus’s name I pray.”

“I believe the Lord allows Satan to sift overconfident, self-reliant Christians in particular. They boast, ‘If the enemy ever tries to bring me down, I’ll trample him in God’s power. I’ll chase him out of my life with the Word. The devil can’t touch me.’
I hear this kind of boasting from pulpits all across America. Of course, I agree we have victory over Satan by faith in Jesus’ work on the cross. Yet, at one time or another, every Christian faces sudden, surprising siftings and never realizes the devil is behind them. Movements are taking place constantly in the spiritual world that we know very little about. We’re not to be ignorant of the enemy’s devices.
Perhaps right now you’re facing a deep trial, an unexplainable shaking. You’re being turned upside down, inside out, and you think it may be because of some evil in you. Yet, the whole time, it’s Satan, sifting you like wheat, by God’s permission. When we’re being sifted, Satan injects into our minds every evil thing in his demonic arsenal. And he makes us believe these awful thoughts originated in our own hearts, rather than in hell. It’s a trial so hellish and despairing, Christ won’t let us enter it without giving us his oath to pray us through. Beloved, our own sifting ends when we can say to the devil, ‘My Savior loves me unconditionally, through all my sins, because I’ve returned to his love. Moreover, he’s convinced me that, even though I’ve failed him, he knows I still love him with all my heart. So, you can’t rob me of that anymore, devil. I won’t allow you to tell me otherwise. I love Jesus, and he knows it.'” Excerpt from: The Sifting Process

Sweet Surrender

Who will love me
when I’m not in my right mind,
when I’m not able
to love you in return?

Who will hear me,
when I have nothing—
worth listening to;
when I don’t even understand,
what others say and do?

Who will care for me
when I’m not able
to care for myself—
not even someone else?

It could occur today
or maybe in the future,
but why would I worry—
isn’t this what I signed up for?
Didn’t Jesus say:
“I will love you forever”.

I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body.” Philippians 1:20-24

“Don’t be naive. There are difficult times ahead. As the end approaches, people are going to be self-absorbed, money-hungry, self-promoting, stuck-up, profane, contemptuous of parents, crude, coarse, without compassion, unbending, slanderers, impulsively wild, savage, cynical, treacherous, ruthless, bloated windbags, addicted to lust, and allergic to God. “Do not allow this world to mold you in its own image. Instead, be transformed from the inside out by renewing your mind. As a result, you will be able to discern what God wills and whatever God finds good, pleasing, and complete.” Romans 12:2

“moral grandstanding can be defined as ‘the use and abuse of moral talk to seek status, to promote oneself, or to boost your own brand.’ A moral grandstander is therefore a person who frequently uses public discussion of morality and politics to impress others with their moral qualities. Crucially, these individuals are primarily motivated by the desire to enhance their own status or ranking among their peers.
Let’s face it: Moral grandstanding seems to be everywhere these days. As clinical psychologist Joshua Grubbs notes, “Perhaps, just perhaps, part of the reason so many of us are so awful to each other so much of the time on here is related to a desire to show off to like-minded others. In essence, sometimes we behave poorly in an effort to gain the respect and esteem of folks like us.” Excerpt from: Are You a Moral Grandstander?
